In just one month, my sister and her husband will be welcoming their daughter into this world. She will be beautiful just how God made her. She will be half white. She will be half black. She will be fully human. She will be wholly perfect.
Several months after that, my wife and I will be welcoming our child. These two will be growing up together and will care for one another from 2020 forward.
What kind of world are we creating for my niece and child who will be born not knowing the actions which took place this week? What will they know about how those they will look up to reacted in the face of racism?
Church! We must mourn with our brothers and sisters who mourn. Silence is not okay. When we hear another divide our country through words and actions over race we must speak out.
Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed. Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the oppressed and needy.

Let this be a home where our children see each individuals color and celebrate it.
The riots in Pittsburgh and our nation continue to break my heart. From watching the news and reading reports it appears that a few individuals took a peaceful protest and used the opportunity to cause pain and destruction independent of the true issue. This is not okay.
Let your voice be heard. Let us speak for those who have no voice. Let us judge righteously, defending our brothers and sisters. Let us make this world a better place.
